Pasay City and UP: Engaging city governance to effect relevant change

Enhancing capacities among members of the City Health Office in participatory governance in health, global health, medical science updates and more


INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENT
Facilitated the participation of UP College of Medicine Alumni here and in America in funding the construction of separate of TB DOTS Clinic in the Malibay, MIA, and Kalayaan Health Centers. This facilitates the PhilHealth accreditation of these clinics.


COMMUNITY HEALTH INFORMATION TRACKING SYSTEM (CHITS)
Project of the UPCM Medical Informatics Unit with the Canada Fund, CHITS has helped improve health information management in Lagrosa and Malibay health center as well as helped improve computer literacy among Pasay health professionals, an effort recognized as one of APEC’s Best e-Gov projects, Stockholm Challenge Finalist and listed in the Compendium of Best Practices in Local Health Systems, DOH, 2006.


LOCAL HEALTH CENTER STAFF DEVELOPMENT
The workplace environment and culture is enhanced in the Local Health Center using humanistic education principles and strategies, with topics ranging from work satisfaction to improving patient-health provider relationship, among others.
